about
GS025
"The poet Nayyirah Waheed wrote “all the women in me are tired”, and that line never stopped repeating itself in my head. This single is about that line. About how tired we are and how we yearn for a space in which we’re safe, and how angry we are that nobody listens."
Formerly a member of rap trio Oh! Dark Arrow, stripper-turned-rapper Push Push has collaborated with producers from Cape Town’s Thor Rixon to Toronto’s Pusher. Her high-energy performances have taken her to stages in London and New York, as well as prominent local events like CTEMF, Smoking Dragon and Rocking the Daisies. If you haven’t spotted her name on lineups alongside the likes of Peanut Butter Wolf, you’re sure to have heard her tracks ‘Jut Life’ and ‘Atom Bomb’ featured on Comedy Central’s Broad City.
Features on VICE and Pigeons & Planes have seen the artist’s style and polarising personal brand showcased and explored, demonstrating her versatility and hunger to create music that’s as unique as it is catchy.
i'm fashioning a noose in my head
sleeping in your t shirt wishing i was dead
intercepting telekinetic messages read as threats
and at the back of them written is three words "i regret it"
well beloved friends in the darkness guess whose left
just me and the inevitable ending manifested
one as a sharp knife twisted in your neck
the other drawn as a vision of destiny you rejected
that's three strikes for lover you're next
that's one too many times now i've wasted my breath
id bleed my brain to change it not even jesus save me
from being a bad bitch, if a tad basic
and i'm a give no fucks type so ill say it
your top ten rapper list at least three rapists
And I will make no peace today with these
dumb motherfuckers who reach for me from
Leagues away
put me back in my mother
look at yourself your favorite rapper has his girl in a chokehold
your other fave was hiding offspring from the whole world
i'm embarassed for you suckers, out embarrassing your mothers
acting like you made it all yourself all of a sudden
i'm not the one crying at home homie i'm hundreds
i'm good love, enjoy stunting
i hope in the future i hear that they locked you up for something
i hope in the future i hear that they locked you up
put me back in my mother
maybe in the future you don't tell me to smile
i walk around without makin' up escape plans worthwhile
of taking off these boots and running, or stabbing you in the fucking stomach with something
if you just tuned in i'm describing what it's like to be a femme in this lifetime and
what it's like to spend a lifetime feeling so tired
all the women and me are so tired
of these manchilds with their violence
all the women and me seek asylum
but still your Mandem stand there silent
but still your man just stand there silent
